Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, generating strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Impact
Locals witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to manage the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled 598 emergency reports across the region, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing - multiple emergency calls
- Wyndham area - over 175 calls for assistance
At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both areas.
Safety Concern
Health officials alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after historical occurrences where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the region.
