Fans Urge Detainment of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who leaped a fence and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors made its way down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him disrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Safety
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more response on Instagram.
A number of supporters also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of attendees had gathered in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-part adaptation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, securing two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
