That Gory Cartoon Movie Ending That Stays With Viewers

Among all the mature animated films I have personally watched, no other has stuck with me as much as the terror-laced finale of the graphically gory and overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spanish writer-director developed a grim, melancholy , often savage universe with several minor , desolate glimmers of optimism.

While The Unicorn Wars appears as it stemmed from a desire to expand animation further, the filmmaker clarified that it was rather a try to communicate a widespread, cross-cultural theme regarding “the shared root of all wars.”

That message is communicated via a band of colorful pastel bears , obviously modeled after a popular line of lovable characters.

Being raised in a community built around militarism as well as the defense industry, a lot of these animals are fixated on exterminating the mythical beasts, because of a religious scripture which states the bears they used to be kings of the woodland, until the horned beings forced them out.

A few have not completely fallen for the propaganda, , would rather sample narcotics and engage sexually outdoors.

In contrast to their friendly equivalents, these bright beings show genitals , obvious urges.

For a particular notably brutal, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the battle with the unicorns becomes a path to power — and specifically to dominance over his softer, kinder brother Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor , a seeming psychopath , and as horror takes over his unit and kills his teammates individually, he grabs progressively control on his own behalf, in increasingly bloody, harmful methods.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are experiencing their own horror, through an expanding, harmful creature in their forest.

“At the beginning, it appears as a humorous movie,” the director stated. “However it becomes a more serious and sad film. And by the end, it’s a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the more whimsical movies by a renowned filmmaker, which find a wicked pleasure in letting cartoon characters curse, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Subsequently it becomes closer to a darker film from that director, with increasingly visual gore and a noticeable link to the real horror of battle.

Ultimately, it’s an outright extreme drama carnage.

The horror which makes this a perfect Halloween watch starts well before than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the hardcore gorehounds, for enthusiasts of extreme cinema who desire to watch a movie they’ve never seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a story that pulls unflinching brutality.

Watch it with the lights off with no disturbances, and that ending will dig into your mind and stay with you.
