The President Invites Families of Attacked Guard Personnel to the White House
Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.
He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Invitation
The president stated he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Community members came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always ready to help others.”
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Steps and Policy Changes
Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident prompted the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and halt providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader the governor mentioned on television.

Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with excellence, according to the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” he told the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
